Preview: Bucklin Red Aces vs. Ashland Blue Jays
Bucklin is 9-1 against Ashland since March of 2018, and they'll have a chance to extend that success on Tuesday. The Bucklin Red Aces will look to defend their home court against the Ashland Blue Jays at 6:30 p.m. Bucklin will be looking to extend their current five-game winning streak.
Bucklin stacked an eighth blowout win onto their ever-increasing hoard on Friday. They blew past Macksville 51-27. Given Bucklin's advantage in MaxPreps' Kansas basketball rankings (they are ranked 25th, while Macksville is ranked 116th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Bucklin's victory was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Karlee Evans, who scored 16 points along with two steals. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Evans has scored all season. The team also got some help courtesy of Sydnie Jones, who scored 17 points along with two steals.
Meanwhile, after a string of four wins, Ashland's good fortune finally ran out on Friday. They had to suffer through a rough 62-33 loss at the hands of Meade. Ashland has not had much luck with Meade recently, as the team's come up short the last three times they've met.
Bucklin has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won nine of their last ten matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 15-3 record this season. As for Ashland, their defeat dropped their record down to 7-9.
Bucklin strolled past Ashland in their previous matchup back in March of 2023 by a score of 45-28. Will Bucklin repeat their success, or does Ashland have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
