Baseball Game Preview: Holy Redeemer Royals vs. Hanover Area Hawkeyes

Holy Redeemer is 8-2 against Hanover Area since April of 2019 and they'll have a chance to extend that dominance on Thursday. The Royals will welcome the Hawkeyes at 4:15 p.m. The timing is sure in Holy Redeemer's favor as the team sits on seven straight wins at home while Hanover Area has been banged up by three consecutive losses on the road.

Holy Redeemer hadn't beaten Wyoming Area on the road since April 15, 2024 but that history sure didn't bother them on Saturday. The Royals came out on top against the Warriors by a score of 5-1.

Cody Quaglia made a splash while hitting and pitching. On the mound, he didn't allow a single earned run while striking out eight over seven innings pitched. That's the most strikeouts he has posted since back in March. He was also solid in the batter's box, going 1-for-3 with one stolen base and one run.

In other batting news, Drew Cisney was excellent, going 3-for-4 with one stolen base, two RBI, and one run. That's the most RBI he has posted since back in April of 2024. Another player making a difference was Alex Gordon, who got on base in three of his four plate appearances with one stolen base and one RBI.

Holy Redeemer hit smart and finished the game with only two strikeouts. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Wyoming Area struck out seven times.

Meanwhile, Hanover Area came up short against Greater Nanticoke Area on Saturday and fell 5-2.

Hanover Area saw six different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Conor Richardson, who went 3-for-4 with one RBI.

Hanover Area's loss dropped their record down to 2-14. As for Holy Redeemer, they are on a roll lately: they've won seven of their last eight contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 13-2 record this season.

Holy Redeemer took their victory against Hanover Area when the teams last played back in April by a conclusive 12-0 score. Will the Royals repeat their success, or do the Hawkeyes have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
