Recap: Malcolm Clippers vs. Northwest Vikings
After a string of four wins, the Malcolm Clippers's good fortune finally ran out on Tuesday. They took a 58-54 hit to the loss column at the hands of Northwest. Malcolm was given a dose of their own medicine in this game as Northwest apparently hadn't forgotten their loss the last time these teams played back in December of 2022.
Despite the defeat, Malcolm saw an underclassman step up: Halle Dolliver dropped a double-double on 35 points and 14 rebounds. Dolliver scored a full 64.8% of Malcolm's points, the fifth time in a row she's earned more than a third of the team's points. Abby Zegar was another key contributor, scoring six points along with eight rebounds.
Northwest was led to victory by Reagan Mcintyre and Jolie O?hara. Mcintyre scored 17 points along with seven rebounds, while O?hara scored 12 points along with eight assists. That's the first time this season that O?hara posted eight or more assists. The team also got some help courtesy of Kyla Sybrandts, who scored seven points.
Malcolm's loss ended a nine-game streak of wins at home dating back to last season and dropped them to 4-1. As for Northwest, their victory bumped their record up to 2-3.
Malcolm will be home for the holidays to greet Beatrice at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. Beatrice knows how to get points on the board -- the squad has finished with flashy point totals in its past four contests -- so hopefully Malcolm likes a good challenge. As for Northwest, they will head out on the road to face off against Lexington at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. Lexington comes in on a streak of failing to score more than 18 points in their last four games, a trend the team is of course eager to reverse.
