Volleyball Recap: Fort Calhoun's Win on Tuesday Extends Winning Streak to Five

Fort Calhoun had already won four in a row and they went ahead and made it five on Tuesday. They came out on top against the Cornerstone Christian School Cougars by a score of 2-0. While the Pioneers didn't have the best season last year (they finished 10-19), it's starting to look like those struggles are a thing of the past.

The 2-0 score doesn't show just how dominant Fort Calhoun was: they took both sets by at least ten points. Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 25-11, 25-15.

Their offense was headlined by Ansley Elofson and Emilee Thayer-Mencke, who picked up five kills apiece. They got some help from Sophie Weeks and her 18 assists. Thayer-Mencke also made an impact serving: she shared the team lead in aces with Ari Nelson, racking up two apiece.

Fort Calhoun's win bumped their record up to 9-2. As for Cornerstone Christian School, they have traveled a rocky road recently, having lost three of their last four matches. That's put a noticeable dent in their 5-4 record this season.

Coincidentally, Fort Calhoun and Cornerstone Christian School will both be playing Ralston the next time they take the court. The Cougars will head out to face the Rams at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday, while the Pioneers will play them later in the day, at 7:00 p.m.
