The Wolfe County Wolves will challenge the Lawrence County Bulldogs at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday. Wolfe County is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 6.6 runs per game this season.
Wolfe County barely beat Morgan County the last time the pair played, but that sure wasn't the case this time around. The Wolves never let the Cougars get on the board and left with a 10-0 victory on Tuesday. The Wolves haven't had any issues with the Cougars recently, as the game was their fifth consecutive win against them.
Max Whisman made a big impact no matter where he played. He looked comfortable on the mound, not allowing a single earned run and allowing only one hit over five innings pitched. He has been consistent: he hasn't given up more than two walks in six consecutive appearances. He was also big at the plate, going a perfect 2-for-2 with two RBI.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Chance Fallen, who got on base in three of his four plate appearances with two runs and one RBI. Another player making a difference was Kris Evans, who went 2-for-4 with two runs.
Wolfe County always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .548. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Morgan County only posted an OBP of .125.
Meanwhile, Lawrence County unfortunately witnessed the end of their three-game winning streak on Wednesday. They came up short against Johnson Central, falling 12-2. For those keeping track at home, that's the biggest defeat the Bulldogs have suffered since April 4th.
Lawrence County saw eight different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Tyger Cavins, who went 1-for-2 with one run.
Wolfe County's victory bumped their record up to 17-8. As for Lawrence County, their loss dropped their record down to 14-9.
Wolfe County was able to grind out a solid win over Lawrence County in their previous matchup back in April of 2024, winning 3-0. Do the Wolves have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Bulldogs turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
