Basketball Recap: Mariner Tritons vs. Oasis Sharks

Mariner was not able to break out of their rough patch on Monday as the team picked up their eighth straight loss dating back to last season. They took a 67-56 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Oasis Sharks. Sadly, that's the second time they've come up short against the Tritons this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 70-36 two weeks ago.

Oasis had a senior duo take command as Maximus Martinez dropped a double-double on 19 points and 16 rebounds and Owen Skistad went 7 of 14 on his way to 18 points in addition to seven boards and three steals. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Martinez has scored all season. Another player making a difference was Carlos Barbara, who almost dropped a double-double on nine points and 11 rebounds.

Mariner's defeat dropped their record down to 0-7. As for Oasis, they have been performing well recently as they've won four of their last five games, which provided a nice bump to their 5-3 record this season.

Mariner will venture away from home to take on Lehigh at 7:30 p.m. on Wednesday. Lehigh knows how to get points on the board -- the team has finished with 55 points or more in their past five matches -- so hopefully Mariner likes a good challenge. As for Oasis, they will welcome Cape Coral at 7:30 p.m. on Thursday. Each of these teams will be battling to keep a three-game winning streak alive.
