Basketball Recap: Wenonah Takes a Loss + How To Watch

If Wenonah was riding high fresh off their 58-10 takedown of Bessemer City on Tuesday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. The Dragons were outmatched by the Midfield Patriots and fell 68-31. The defeat continues a trend for the Dragons in their meetings with the Patriots: they've now lost three in a row.

Despite the loss, Wenonah still got an impressive performance from Zariah Evans, who posted five points and ten boards. The team also got some help courtesy of Jaliya Johnson, who put up five points and five rebounds.

Midfield was led to victory by Lauren Stokes and Kamiya Webb. Stokes went 9-for-15 to rack up 23 points and five steals, while Webb dropped a double-double with 17 points and 15 boards. Webb's big performance that evening made it five games in a row in which she has scored at least 17 points. Another player making a difference was Jazmin Johnson, who scored 11 points and three steals.

Wenonah's loss dropped their record down to 6-5. As for Midfield, their victory was their seventh straight on the road dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 8-2.

Coming up, Wenonah will head out to square off against Fultondale at 6:00 p.m. on Monday. As for Midfield, they will host Fairfield at 6:00 p.m. on Monday.
