Baseball Recap: Malad Snags Eighth Victory in Last Ten Games

Malad put their dominant pitchers on display in the team's third consecutive shutout on Wednesday. Their pitchers stepped up to hand the Soda Springs Cardinals a 16-0 shutout. That 16 run margin sets a new team best for the Dragons this season.

Brycen Howe was a major factor no matter where he played. On the mound, he didn't allow a single earned run while striking out seven over 4.2 innings pitched. He has been nothing but reliable: he hasn't given up more than two walks in six consecutive appearances. He was also big at the plate, going 1-for-2 with two RBI. Those two RBI gave him a new career-high.

In other batting news, Carter Carey was a standout: he went 2-for-4 with three stolen bases, two runs, and one triple. Those three stolen bases gave him a new career-high. Ethan Horsley also deserves some recognition as he hit his first double of the season.

Malad kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 14 hits. That's the most hits they've managed all season.

Malad is on a roll lately: they've won eight of their last ten games. That's provided a nice bump to their 11-4 record this season. The victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 8.7 runs over those games. As for Soda Springs, they now have a losing record of 6-7-1.
