Recap: Sabino Sabercats vs. Thatcher Eagles

The Sabino Sabercats waltzed into their contest on Friday with three straight wins but they left with four. They secured a 47-43 W over Thatcher. That result was just more of the same for these two, as Sabino also won the last time the pair played back in December of 2023.

Sabino was led to victory by Marie Gomez-Munoz and Jayda Haley. Gomez-Munoz scored 15 points along with six rebounds and five steals, while Haley scored 23 points along with eight rebounds and four steals. That makes it five consecutive games in which Haley has scored at least a third of Sabino's points. The team also got some help courtesy of Melia Graham, who scored four points along with three steals.

Sabino pushed their record up to 9-11 with that victory, which was their third straight at home. Those victories were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 71.0 points per game. As for Thatcher, they have fallen quite a ways from their 19-7 record last season and are now at 5-10.

Sabino will head out on the road to take on Palo Verde at 5:30 p.m. on Wednesday. As for Thatcher, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Tanque Verde at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday.
