Softball Game Preview: Jacksonville Golden Eagles vs. Oneonta Redskins

The Jacksonville Golden Eagles will head out to challenge the Oneonta Redskins at 9:00 a.m. on Saturday.

Jacksonville came into their game on Thursday off a hard-fought close win, but unfortunately suffered a serious change of fortune. They lost 7-1 to Pleasant Valley.

Jacksonville saw five different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Avery Allen, who went 2-for-3 with one stolen base.

Meanwhile, Oneonta had to endure a five-game losing streak, but that streak is no more. They walked away with a 7-2 victory over Pennington on Friday.

Kaylee Peoples was excellent, going 1-for-2 with two runs, one triple, and one RBI. That's the most runs she has posted since back in March. Kylie Killough also deserves some recognition as she got her first hit of the season.

Oneonta always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .615. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.

Oneonta's record is now 12-18. As for Jacksonville, their defeat dropped their record down to 12-14.

Oneonta's pitching crew has a crucial task ahead of them: Jacksonville has hit smart this season, having averaged an OBP of .432. It's a different story for Oneonta, though, as they've only averaged .350. Will they be able to contain Jacksonville's hitters?

Jacksonville was able to grind out a solid win over Oneonta in their previous meeting back in April of 2022, winning 11-7. Will the Golden Eagles repeat their success, or do the Redskins have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
