The Deer Trail Eagles will head out to take on the Briggsdale Falcons at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Deer Trail knows how to get points on the board -- the squad has finished with 31 points or more in their past five matchups -- so hopefully Briggsdale likes a good challenge.

Deer Trail is probably headed into the game with a chip on their shoulder considering Kiowa just ended the team's three-game winning streak on Friday. They fell 60-47 to the Indians.

Deer Trail might have lost, but man, Jayden Mingee was a machine: he picked up 241 receiving yards and four scores, and also rushed for 47 yards and one touchdown. Mingee also put in work on the defensive side of the ball, forcing one fumble, making 12 total tackles, and defending one pass. Chris Manriquez-Bustamante was another key player, throwing for 259 yards and four TDs while picking up 11.8 yards per attempt.

Special teams also played a big role in the game for Deer Trail, adding 11 points to the final score. The biggest highlight from special teams (and perhaps the team as a whole) came courtesy of Preston Bertram, who ran a kickoff back for a touchdown.

Deer Trail now has a losing record of 4-5. As for Briggsdale, their loss dropped their record down to 2-6.

Friday's matchup might be decided on the ground. Deer Trail has been excellent on the ground this season, having averaged 164.8 rushing yards per game. However, it's not like Briggsdale struggles in that department as they've been averaging 224.5 rushing yards. There's a good chance Friday's game turns into a tough fight on the ground.
