Baseball Game Preview: Louis E. Dieruff Huskies vs. William Allen Canaries

Louis E. Dieruff is on an 11-game streak of home losses dating back to last season, and William Allen a three-game streak of away losses. However, someone's due for a change in luck on Monday. The Louis E. Dieruff Huskies will look to defend their home field against the William Allen Canaries at 4:00 p.m. Louis E. Dieruff has given up an average of 10.2 runs per game this season, but Monday's game will give them a chance to turn things around.

Catasauqua hit Louis E. Dieruff with a six-run fourth inning on Friday, which goes a long way in explaining the final result. The Huskies took a 12-8 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Rough Riders.

Brian Cepin made the most of his time at bat despite the final result and got on base in all four of his plate appearances with three RBI, one run, and one double. The team also got some help courtesy of Jean Varela, who went 1-for-4 with two RBI, one run, and one double.

Meanwhile, William Allen didn't have quite enough to beat Whitehall on Saturday and fell 5-4.

Daifer Moreta put in work no matter where he played. He tossed six innings while giving up just one earned (and four unearned) runs off seven hits. William Allen is 2-1 when Moreta allows one or fewer earned runs, but 1-15 otherwise. Moreta was also solid in the batter's box, going 3-for-4 with two doubles and two RBI.

Moreta wasn't the only one making solid contact as three players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was Durell Holden, who went 1-for-3 with one run.

William Allen's loss dropped their record down to 3-16. As for Louis E. Dieruff, their defeat dropped their record down to 3-15.

Louis E. Dieruff skirted past William Allen 4-2 in their previous meeting back in April. Will the Huskies repeat their success, or do the Canaries have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
