Basketball Game Preview: Goreville Blackcats vs. Shawnee Redskins

The Goreville Blackcats will square off against the Shawnee Redskins at 6:00 p.m. on Monday. The teams are on pretty different trajectories at the moment (Goreville has seven straight wins, Shawnee has 11 straight defeats), but none of that matters once you're on the court.

Last Saturday, Goreville didn't have too much trouble with Vienna as they won 63-49. Given the Blackcats' advantage in MaxPreps' Illinois basketball rankings (they are ranked 109th, while the Eagles are ranked 249th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Meanwhile, Shawnee lost 77-56 to Cobden on Saturday.

Goreville pushed their record up to 28-3 with the victory, which was their 11th straight at home. Those victories came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 71.5 points over those games. As for Shawnee, their loss dropped their record down to 2-24.
