Preview: Chesterfield Golden Rams vs. Cheraw Braves
The Chesterfield Golden Rams will head out on the road to face off against the Cheraw Braves at 7:30 p.m. on Friday.
It's never fun to lose, and it's even less fun to lose 55-18, which was the final score in Chesterfield's tilt against Central on Friday.
The loss doesn't tell the whole story though, as several players had good games. One of the most active was Aiden Short, who threw for 152 yards and two touchdowns. Jaquavis Clark was in the mix too, providing Chesterfield with two touchdowns.
Meanwhile, Cheraw entered their tilt with Buford with two consecutive wins but they'll enter their next game with three. Cheraw took down Buford 25-7 last Thursday.
Among those leading the charge was Cam Mcclendon, who rushed for 100 yards and a touchdown on only 11 carries.
Cheraw's defense stepped up as well, laying out the QB four times. Leading the way was Crawford Poole and his two sacks.
Central's victory bumped their season record to 3-6 while Chesterfield's loss dropped theirs to 2-7.
Chesterfield came up short against Cheraw when the teams last played back in October of 2022, falling 54-42. Thankfully for Chesterfield, Zay Brown (who rushed for 300 yards and six touchdowns while picking up 7.9 yards per carry) won't be suiting up this time. Will that be enough to change the final result? There's only one way to find out.
