Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Sunnyside). They were the clear victor by a 14-2 margin over the Mountain View Mountain Lions on Wednesday. With that win, the Blue Devils brought their scoring average up to 6.8 runs per game.
Sunnyside got a great performance from ARMANDO BEJARANO as he tossed five innings while giving up just one earned (and one unearned) run off five hits.
At the plate, MICHEL MUNIZ was incredible, scoring two runs and stealing Two bases. while getting on base in all four of his plate appearances. He has been hot recently, having posted at least one stolen base the last three times he's played. The team also got some help courtesy of LUCAS MATA, who scored two runs and stole a base while going 1-for-3.
Sunnyside was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .375. The team's really been improving in that area: they've now improved their batting average total in three consecutive games.
Sunnyside's record is now 7-2. As for Mountain View, they are on a four-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 2-6.
Looking ahead, Sunnyside will square off against Tanque Verde at 10:30 a.m. on Thursday. As for Mountain View, they will face off against Rincon/University at 1:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Mountain View has given up an average of 7.2 runs per game this season, so hopefully the team got some pitching drills in this week.
