Basketball Game Preview: Butler Bulldogs vs. Laney Wildcats

Two dominant guards in Brayla Harris and Raina Burns are getting ready to go toe-to-toe. The Butler Bulldogs will venture away from home to square off against the Laney Wildcats at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. Keep an eye on the score for this one: both posted some lofty point totals in their previous games.

Butler is headed into the game after thoroughly thrashing Glenn Hills: they outscored them in every quarter. Given that consistent dominance, it should come as no surprise that Butler blew Glenn Hills out of the water with a 78-10 final score. The Bulldogs have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won nine contests by 21 points or more this season.

Butler got their victory on the backs of several key players, but it was Jaidyn Moore out in front who went 9 of 13 on her way to 19 points in addition to five boards and three steals. The dominant performance also gave Moore a new career-high in assists (two). Paris Floyd was another key player, going 5 for 11 en route to 13 points and eight steals.

Butler smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 17 offensive rebounds. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least eight offensive boards in seven consecutive matches.

Meanwhile, there's no place like home for Laney, who bounced back after a loss on the road on Tuesday. They managed a 59-54 win over Burke County on Thursday.

Butler's victory bumped their record up to 15-3. As for Laney, their win bumped their record up to 10-11.

Butler took their victory against Laney when the teams last played on January 14th by a conclusive 76-55. The rematch might be a little tougher for Butler since the squad won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
