Softball Game Preview: Alhambra Lions vs. Carl Hayden Community Falcons

For the second straight game, Alhambra will face off against Carl Hayden Community. The Lions will face off against the Falcons at 4:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Alhambra is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 7.2 runs per game this season.

Alhambra will roll into the matchup after a wild two-game stretch: they only put up two runs on Friday, then bounced right back against Carl Hayden Community on Monday. The Lions blew past the Falcons 15-5. The Lions haven't had any issues with the Falcons recently, as the game was their sixth consecutive victory against them.

Aliyah Carranza spent all six innings played on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered five earned runs on six hits and racked up 11 Ks. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't tossed less than seven strikeouts in five consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, Deidrea Tree was a standout: she scored three runs and stole two bases while going 4-for-5. The dominant performance also gave her a new career-high in triples (two). Alondra Mercado was another key player, going 2-for-3 with one home run, five RBI, and two runs.

Tree wasn't the only one making solid contact: Alhambra kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 15 hits. That's a new trend for the Lions: they were averaging 3.6 hits per game earlier this season, but in their last 15 contests they've averaged 12.2.

Carl Hayden Community's loss dropped their record down to 5-10. As for Alhambra, their win bumped their record up to 4-9.
