Basketball Recap: Motley County Matadors vs. Valley Patriots
Motley County was not able to break out of their rough patch on Friday as the team picked up their fourth straight loss. They were outmatched by the Valley Patriots and fell 72-21. Sadly, that's the second time they've come up short against the Matadors this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 81-21 back in January.
Elizabeth Morales and Brittany Flores certainly did their best on Friday to avoid the loss. Morales posted 13 points and eight rebounds, while Flores put up eight points and three steals.
Valley had a senior duo take command as Trinity Schlueter dropped a double-double on 26 points and 12 boards and Savannah Carrera went 7 of 14 en route to 18 points in addition to six rebounds and five steals. Schlueter is also on a roll when it comes to steals, as she's now grabbed two or more in the last 15 games she's played. Allie Pigg was another key player, going 6 for 10 on her way to 14 points.
Motley County's defeat dropped their record down to 12-18. As for Valley, they have been performing incredibly well recently as they've won 20 of their last 21 matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 30-2 record this season.
Motley County didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next game, a 44-28 win against Paducah on the 4th. Valley has also already played their next contest, a 60-39 victory against Guthrie on the 3rd.
