Basketball Game Preview: Monroe Trojans vs. Jefferson Bears

Monroe is on a ten-game streak of home losses, Jefferson a five-game streak of away losses, but someone's luck will change on Friday. The Monroe Trojans will host the Jefferson Bears at 7:00 p.m. Having both just faced considerable losses, both teams are looking to turn things around.

Last Tuesday, Monroe was beaten by Skyline 66-33. While losing is never fun, the Trojans can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Michigan basketball rankings (they are ranked 505th, while the Eagles are ranked 82nd).

Meanwhile, Jefferson took a blow against Flat Rock on Tuesday, falling 59-28. The game marked the Bears' lowest-scoring contest so far this season.

Monroe's loss dropped their record down to 3-18. As for Jefferson, their defeat dropped their record down to 7-14.

Everything came up roses for Monroe against Jefferson in their previous meeting back in November of 2023, as the squad secured a 69-42 win. Does Monroe have another victory up their sleeve, or will Jefferson turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
