Softball Recap: Rosman Extends Winning Streak to Five

Rosman had already won four in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 5.5 runs) and they went ahead and made it five on Wednesday. They walked away with a 9-5 victory over the Mountain Heritage Cougars. That's the second time they've managed to beat them this season, as they also won 8-3 last Tuesday.

Kiki Sexton was a major factor while hitting and pitching. She looked comfortable on the mound, striking out ten batters over seven innings while giving up just two earned (and three unearned) runs off eight hits. She has been consistent recently: she hasn't tossed less than nine strikeouts in three consecutive appearances. She was also solid in the batter's box, scoring two runs while going 1-for-3.

In other batting news, Jolie Reid was excellent, scoring a run and stealing a base while going 2-for-5. What's more, she posted three RBI, the most she's had since back in March.

Rosman's win was their third straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 9-7. Those road victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 9.7 runs over those games. As for Mountain Heritage, they have been struggling recently as they've lost five of their last six matchups. That's put a noticeable dent in their 2-9 record this season.

We've got plenty of inter-conference action coming up soon. Rosman is set to challenge their familiar foe Madison at 4:30 p.m. on the 21st. Meanwhile, Mountain Heritage will face off against rival Avery County at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
