Assumption came tearing into Monday's game with five straight wins (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 3 runs), and they left with even more momentum. They came within a single run of losing the streak, but they secured a 5-4 W against the Pleasant Valley Spartans. The Knights have seen this before: they got the W the last time they saw the Spartans, too.

Assumption's victory was their fourth straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 16-8. They've had to fight for that success though, as they only beat their opponents by an average of two runs across that stretch. As for Pleasant Valley, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 18-4.

The teams didn't have to wait long for a rematch: the Spartans beat Assumption by a score of 7-3 later that day.
