Recap: New Diana Eagles vs. Chapel Hill Red Devils
After a string of three wins, the New Diana Eagles's good fortune finally ran out on Friday. They took a serious blow against Chapel Hill, falling 79-31. While losing is never fun, New Diana can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Texas basketball rankings (they are ranked 745th, while Chapel Hill is ranked 121st).
Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Chapel Hill to victory, but perhaps none more so than Cayden Martinez, who scored ten points along with three steals. Martinez has been hot recently, having posted two or more steals the last three times he's played. Braden Buchanan was another key contributor, scoring 16 points.
New Diana's loss dropped their record down to 5-4. As for Chapel Hill, their win was their seventh straight at home, which pushed their record up to 15-1.
New Diana will head out on the road to face off against Overton at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Hopefully Overton focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 16 on Friday. Chapel Hill will be home for the holidays to greet Harmony at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Harmony is coming into the match on a four-game losing streak.
