Volleyball Game Preview: San Diego Academy Cavaliers vs. Bayfront Charter Sharks

The San Diego Academy Cavaliers will challenge the Bayfront Charter Sharks at 3:45 p.m. on Wednesday. San Diego Academy is coming into the game hot, having won their last four games.

On Tuesday, San Diego Academy got the win against School for Entrepreneurship & Technology by a conclusive 3-0.

While San Diego Academy won a shutout, things came down to the wire in the first set they played. Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 25-23, 25-11, 25-19.

San Diego Academy can attribute much of their success to Josue Flores, who had 13 digs and one assist, and Dustin Jewell, who hit 100% for seven kills and 29 assists and 11 digs. Flores has been hot, having posted 13 or more digs the last eight times he's played.

They weren't the only ones working in the hitting percentage department: San Diego Academy couldn't miss and finished the game having scored on 40.5% of their attack attempts. The last time their hitting percentage was this high was back in March.

Meanwhile, Bayfront Charter came up short against Castle Park on Monday and fell 3-1.

Bayfront Charter's defeat was their fifth straight at home dating back to last season, which dropped their record down to 1-5. As for San Diego Academy, their victory bumped their record up to 11-5.

San Diego Academy beat Bayfront Charter 3-1 in their previous meeting back in March of 2024. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Cavaliers since the squad won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
