Baseball Recap: Williston Northampton Takes a Loss

Williston Northampton had lost three straight at home, but on Friday they dropped down to 2-8 to make it four. They lost 16-4 to the Pomfret School Griffins. The Wildcats were not able to repeat the success they had when they faced the Griffins earlier this season, when they won 8-6.

As for Pomfret School, their victory ended a four-game drought on the road and puts them at 3-7. Their hitters stepped up their game for this one, as that was the most runs they've scored all season.

For Pomfret School's part, the team relied heavily on Ian Sherman, who got on base in five of his six plate appearances with two stolen bases, five RBI, and three runs. Sherman also hit a double, marking his first of the season. Another player making a difference was Sammy Rivet, who got on base in three of his six plate appearances with four runs and two stolen bases.

We've got plenty of inter-league action coming up soon. Williston Northampton is set to face off against their familiar foe Salisbury School at 2:30 p.m. on Saturday. Meanwhile, Pomfret School will take on rival Frederick Gunn at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday.
