Basketball Game Preview: Northfield Norsemen vs. Tri-Central Trojans

The Northfield Norsemen will head out to challenge the Tri-Central Trojans at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. The two teams have had a bumpy ride up to this point with three consecutive losses apiece.

Last Tuesday, Northfield came up short against Adams Central and fell 51-38.

Tyson Baer put forth a good effort for the losing side as he went 5-for-7 to rack up 16 points. What's more, he also posted a 71% shooting accuracy, which is the highest he's achieved since back in December of 2024. Another player making a difference was Parker Oswalt, who posted five points and seven boards.

Meanwhile, Tri-Central suffered their biggest defeat since January 17th on Friday. They were outmatched by Clinton Prairie and fell 68-34. While losing is never fun, the Trojans can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Indiana basketball rankings (they are ranked 346th in Indiana, while the Gophers are ranked 98th in Indiana).

Tri-Central's loss dropped their record down to 8-13. As for Northfield, their defeat dropped their record down to 9-12.

Northfield lost to Tri-Central on the road by a decisive 60-45 margin in their previous meeting back in February of 2024. Can Northfield avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
