Basketball Recap: De La Salle Comes Up Short

After flying high against Granada last Tuesday, De La Salle came back down to earth. The De La Salle Spartans lost to the California Academy of Math & Science Coyotes on the road by a 67-48 margin on Friday. The loss was a bit of a surprise, as the Spartans came into the game with a sizable advantage in MaxPreps' California basketball rankings (they are ranked 15th, while the Coyotes are ranked 558th).

De La Salle's defeat dropped their record down to 22-4. As for California Academy of Math & Science, the victory (which was their sixth in a row) raised their record to 12-6.

De La Salle didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next contest, a 67-48 loss against California on the 7th. As for California Academy of Math & Science, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Santa Paula at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Santa Paula knows how to get points on the board -- the squad has finished with 55 points or more in their past four matchups -- so hopefully California Academy of Math & Science likes a good challenge.
