Volleyball Game Preview: High Tech Mesa Thunder vs. Mira Mesa Marauders

The High Tech Mesa Thunder will head out on the road to face off against the Mira Mesa Marauders at 6:15 p.m. on Wednesday.

High Tech Mesa is probably headed into the matchup with a chip on their shoulder considering Chula Vista Learning Community Charter just ended the team's four-match winning streak on Tuesday. They fell 3-1 to the Cobras.

While High Tech Mesa ultimately came up short, they didn't go down without a fight: they scored at least 17 points in every set they played. Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 25-18, 25-18, 24-26, 25-17.

Meanwhile, Mira Mesa beat Hilltop 3-1 on Tuesday. The victory made it back-to-back wins for the Marauders.

Mira Mesa had a slow start but a hot finish: after dropping the first set, they turned around to win the next three. The match finished with set scores of 22-25, 25-19, 25-22, 25-23.

High Tech Mesa better keep an eye on Bailey McBride. She was instrumental in Mira Mesa's win, getting 13 digs and three aces. Those three aces gave McBride a new career-high.

High Tech Mesa's defeat was their first in the league, dropping their league record down to 2-1 and their overall record down to 9-8. As for Mira Mesa, the victory got them back to even at 11-11.

High Tech Mesa couldn't quite get it done against Mira Mesa in their previous matchup back in September of 2022 as they fell 2-0. Can the Thunder avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
