Basketball Recap: Phoenix Academy Piles Up the Points Against Community Baptist

You can't lose the game if you win every quarter, and that was precisely Phoenix Academy's strategy against Community Baptist on Tuesday. Given that consistent dominance, it should come as no surprise that the Phoenix Academy Firebirds blew the Community Baptist Conqueror out of the water with a 59-21 final score. The Firebirds pushed the score to 43-19 by the end of the third, a deficit the Conqueror had little chance of recovering from.

Phoenix Academy got their victory on the backs of several key players, but it was Aleena Qureshi out in front who went 11 for 25 on her way to 25 points and four steals. That makes it three consecutive games in which Qureshi has scored at least a third of Phoenix Academy's points. The team also got some help courtesy of Destiny Kinsey, who dropped a double-double on 16 points and ten steals.

Phoenix Academy smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 27 offensive rebounds. That's the most offensive boards they've posted since the start of last season.

The win (which was Phoenix Academy's fourth in a row) raised their record to 8-10. Those victories came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 56.8 points per game. As for Community Baptist, they dropped their record down to 3-8 with the loss, which was their third straight at home.

Phoenix Academy didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next match, a 56-38 victory against Oak Ridge Military Academy on the 29th. Community Baptist has also already played their next contest (against Millers Creek Christian), but no score has been uploaded at the time of writing.
