Volleyball Game Preview: Monterey Trail Mustangs vs. Elk Grove Thundering Herd

The Monterey Trail Mustangs will take on the Elk Grove Thundering Herd at 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday.

Monterey Trail's tournament run continued when they took on Vista del Lago on Saturday. Monterey Trail took a 2-0 hit to the loss column at the hands of Vista del Lago. The match marked the first time this year in which the Mustangs were not able to get on the board.

Meanwhile, Elk Grove hadn't done well against Davis Sr. recently (they were 1-6 in their previous seven matchups), but they didn't let the past get in their way on Friday. Elk Grove was the clear victor by a 3-0 margin over Davis Sr. The Thundering Herd not only won on Friday, but they posted their biggest win since February 27th.

Elk Grove has been performing well recently as they've won three of their last four games. That's provided a nice bump to their 10-7 record this season. Monterey Trail's defeat dropped their record down to 10-4.

Monterey Trail beat Elk Grove 2-0 in their previous matchup back in March of 2024. Does Monterey Trail have another victory up their sleeve, or will Elk Grove turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
