Preview: Dos Pueblos vs. Gahr
Both Dos Pueblos (10-1) and Gahr (8-3) have made it this far into the playoffs, but they square off this Friday at 7:30 PM to determine who is worthy to move on. Dos Pueblos is coming into the game hot, having won ten in a row.
Last week, Dos Pueblos took on Brentwood School. Dos Pueblos's defense put the team in a good position heading into the break, holding Brentwood School to a measly three points. That put Dos Pueblos at a 14 - 3 advantage. The offense wasn't without success either, scoring 27 points in the second half. In the end, Dos Pueblos steamrollered its way to an easy 41 - 3 victory.
Meanwhile, Gahr narrowly escaped with a win last week as it sidled past Santa Fe 31 - 28. Junior Micah Bernard deserves a lot of the credit as he earned three touchdowns and 310 yards rushing the ball. The longest touchdown for Bernard was a punishing, defense-defying 60-yard dash in the third quarter. This marked the 9th consecutive game in which Bernard had 100+ rushing yards.
While both teams are coming off of wins, only one will triumph this week. We'll find out soon enough who that will be.
