Softball Game Preview: Ballard Bruins vs. Green County Dragons

The Ballard Bruins will face off against the Green County Dragons at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Ballard is coming into the contest hot, having won their last seven games.

While Ballard's victory against Atherton wasn't quite the blowout it was the last time the pair played, they still came out on top. The Bruins had just enough and edged out the Ravens 3-2.

The team relied heavily on Ryleah Lawrence, who went 1-for-2 with one home run and two RBI. That home run marked the first that she has launched this season.

Meanwhile, Green County fought the good fight in their extra-innings match against Barren County on Monday but wound up with a less-than-desirable result. They fell just short of the Trojans by a score of 7-5. The Dragons' defeat signaled the end of their three-game winning streak.

Ballard pushed their record up to 17-9 with the win, which was their sixth straight at home. Those home victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.5 runs on average over those games. As for Green County, their loss dropped their record down to 7-10.

Ballard took their win against Green County in their previous matchup back in May of 2024 by a conclusive 12-1 score. Will the Bruins repeat their success, or do the Dragons have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
