Softball Recap: Mission Valley Continues Home Dominance on Thursday

Mission Valley came tearing into Thursday's game with three straight wins (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 11 runs), and they left with even more momentum. They came out on top against the Chase County Bulldogs by a score of 11-7. That's the second time they've managed to beat them this season, as they also won 10-0 on Thursday.

Mission Valley got a great performance from Keely Chesmore as she struck out 12 batters over 4.2 innings while giving up just one earned run off one hit. Those 12 strikeouts gave Chesmore a new career-high.

At the plate, Adaline Bloomfield was a standout: she went a perfect 2-for-2 with two stolen bases, two runs, and two RBI. Those two stolen bases gave her a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Abby Sims, who went 2-for-3 with three runs, one double, and one RBI.

Mission Valley kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 11 hits. They are a perfect 7-0 when they post 11 or more hits.

Mission Valley pushed their record up to 10-4 with the win, which was their eighth straight at home. Those home victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 13.6 runs over those games. As for Chase County, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 2-4.

Coming up, Mission Valley will look to defend their home field on Monday against Rossville at 4:00 p.m. The Bulldogs have struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 7.67 runs per game on average), something the Vikings will no doubt try to take advantage of. As for Chase County, they will head out to square off against Osage City at 4:00 p.m. on Friday.
