Football Recap: Mountain Empire Piles Up the Points Against Tri-City Christian

Mountain Empire lost to Tri-City Christian back in October of 2024, but they didn't allow them the same satisfaction on Friday. The Redhawks breezed past the Eagles to the tune of 34-0. The score at the end of the third wound up being the final score as the Redhawks just coasted through the last quarter.

Leading Mountain Empire to victory were Chance Ross and Amar Mahasin. Ross rushed for 61 yards and a pair of touchdowns on only eight carries, while Mahasin rushed for 76 yards and two TDs on only nine carries. Those 76 rushing yards gave Mahasin a new career-high.

They were just one part of a punishing run game: Mountain Empire was unstoppable on the ground and finished the game with 222 rushing yards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now rushed for at least 162 rushing yards every time they've taken the field this season.

On the other side of the ball, a lot of the credit has to go to Mountain Empire's defense and their three sacks. The team can thank three different players for their defensive prowess: Jason Landman, David Oden, and Garret Steinsdoefer, who each picked up one sack apiece. Mountain Empire got some further help from Landman: he picked up a sack and made eight total tackles in addition to snagging an interception.

Mountain Empire's victory bumped their record up to 4-1. As for Tri-City Christian, they dropped their record down to 0-4 with the loss, which was their fifth straight at home dating back to last season.
