Basketball Recap: Cairo Takes a Loss

Cairo was not able to break out of their rough patch on Friday as the team picked up their 31st straight loss dating back to last season. They came up short against the Peach County Trojans, falling 53-29. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Syrupmakers this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 64-48 last Friday.

Despite the loss, Cairo still got an impressive performance from Shaquara Mills, who almost dropped a double-double on 11 points and nine rebounds. Mills is on a roll when it comes to boards, as she's now pulled down nine or more in the last five games she's played. Elyse Pierce was another key player, almost dropping a double-double on nine points and 11 rebounds.

Cairo's defeat dropped their record down to 0-17. As for Peach County, their win bumped their record up to 7-15.

Cairo has already played their next matchup, a 54-38 loss against Bainbridge on the 8th. As for Peach County, they also wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next contest, a 57-38 defeat against Westover on the 8th.
