Preview: Brazosport Exporters vs. La Marque Cougars

Brazosport is 1-9 against La Marque since February of 2019 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Tuesday. The Brazosport Exporters will head out on the road to challenge the La Marque Cougars at 7:00 p.m. The teams are rolling into the game with opposing streaks: Brazosport has struggled recently with seven defeats in a row, while La Marque will arrive with three straight wins.

Brazosport pushed their score all the way to 60 on Tuesday, but even that wasn't enough to win. They fell 67-60 to Sweeny.

Meanwhile, La Marque's and Bay City's game on Tuesday was close at halftime, but La Marque turned on the heat in the second half with 41 points. La Marque put the hurt on Bay City with a sharp 57-35 victory. Given La Marque's advantage in MaxPreps' Texas basketball rankings (they are ranked 608th, while Bay City is ranked 1226th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

La Marque relied on the efforts of Brendan Harris, who dropped a double-double on 17 points and ten rebounds, and Jasiya Johnson, who scored 14 points along with eight assists and seven steals. Jecaryous Oliver was another key contributor, scoring 11 points along with five rebounds.

Brazosport has traveled a rocky road recently having lost 17 of their last 18 matches, which put a noticeable dent in their 3-22 record this season. As for La Marque, they pushed their record up to 17-16 with that win, which was their fourth straight at home.

Brazosport lost to La Marque on the road by a decisive 71-56 margin in their previous meeting back in January. Can Brazosport avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
