Softball Game Preview: Hozho Academy Wolves vs. Northwest Falcons

The Hozho Academy Wolves will square off against the Northwest Falcons at 3:00 p.m. on Tuesday. One thing working in Hozho Academy's favor is that they have posted at least ten runs in their last eight matchups.

In Saturday's Canine Competition, Hozho Academy prevailed. They blew past Hope Christian 16-2 on Saturday. The Wolves might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won 17 contests by six runs or more this season.

Adleigh Elkins made a big impact while hitting and pitching. She looked comfortable on the mound, not allowing a single earned run while striking out ten over five innings pitched. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't tossed less than seven strikeouts in six consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, going 2-for-3 with one RBI.

In other batting news, Hozho Academy got a big performance out of Iris Albert, who went 2-for-3 with two runs, one stolen base, and two RBI. Mika Thompson was another key player, getting on base in all three of her plate appearances with three runs and one stolen base.

Hozho Academy kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 12 hits. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now got at least nine hits in 12 consecutive games.

Seven must be Northwest's lucky number: they beat To'hajiilee with that score not once but twice on Saturday. The Falcons didn't even let the Warriors on the board, marking the Falcons' second-straight 7-0 shutout. The victory made it back-to-back wins for the Falcons.

Northwest's victory bumped their record up to 3-14. As for Hozho Academy, their win bumped their record up to 18-2.

Hozho Academy got the 'W' when the teams last played back in April of 2025 against Northwest by a conclusive 24-2 score. Will the Wolves repeat their success, or do the Falcons have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
