Preview: Gateway Olympians vs. Bear Creek Bears
Gateway is 0-5 against Bear Creek since February of 2015 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Tuesday. The Gateway Olympians will head out on the road to face off against the Bear Creek Bears at 7:30 p.m. Hopefully Gateway focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 39 on Saturday.
Gateway has made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won three contests by 32 points or more this season. They took their game on the road with ease, bagging a 65-33 victory over Hinkley.
Hayden Von Boeckman was his usual excellent self, scoring 17 points along with three steals. The match was his third in a row with at least ten points. Another player making a difference was Oriel Bailey, who scored six points along with nine rebounds.
Meanwhile, it may have taken overtime to finish the job, but Bear Creek ultimately got the result they hoped for on Saturday. It was close, but they ultimately received the gift of a 54-51 victory from a begrudging Bearssquad. The win made it back-to-back wins for they.
Gateway's record is now 4-5. Bear Creek's record now sits at 4-5.
Gateway came up short against Bear Creek in their previous meeting back in December of 2022, falling 50-39. Can Gateway avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
