Basketball Recap: Curtis Minor and Travis Lathers Secure Win for West Feliciana

West Feliciana won the last time they faced Belaire and things went their way on Thursday too. The West Feliciana Saints walked away with a 52-45 win over the Belaire Bengals. Given the Saints' advantage in MaxPreps' Louisiana basketball rankings (they are ranked 140th, while the Bengals are ranked 333rd), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Leading West Feliciana to victory were Travis Lathers and Curtis Minor. Lathers posted 16 points, while Minor put up ten points and six boards. That's the most points Minor has posted since back in December of 2024. Another player making a difference was Tim Lindsey, who had ten points.

West Feliciana's victory bumped their record up to 16-7. As for Belaire, they have also traveled a rocky road recently having lost 13 of their last 14 matches, which put a noticeable dent in their 7-18 record this season.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. West Feliciana will host Plaquemine at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Belaire, they won't have much time to rest: their next game is against St. Michael at 7:15 p.m. on Friday. The teams are on pretty different trajectories at the moment (St. Michael has five straight wins, Belaire has 12 straight defeats), but none of that matters once you're on the court.
