Basketball Recap: Wamego Comes Up Short

Wamego was not able to break out of their rough patch on Tuesday as the team picked up their sixth straight loss. They came up short against the Abilene Cowboys, falling 54-29. While losing is never fun, the Red Raiders can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Kansas basketball rankings (they are ranked 241st, while the Cowboys are ranked 80th).

Wamego's defeat dropped their record down to 3-12. As for Abilene, they pushed their record up to 12-3 with the victory, which was their 15th straight at home dating back to last season.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Wamego will venture away from home to challenge Concordia at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Concordia will roll in looking for their fourth straight win, something Wamego surely won't give up without a fight. Abilene has already played their next matchup (against Clay Center), but no score has been uploaded at the time of writing.
