Softball Recap: Hartford Magnet Trinity College Academy Snaps Three-Game Streak of Wins on the Road

After flying high against Grasso Tech on Thursday, Hartford Magnet Trinity College Academy came back down to earth. The Phoenix fell 10-7 to the Academy of Science and Innovation Ravens on Friday. The Phoenix were not able to make up for their defeat to the Ravens from their previous meeting back in May of 2024.

Sumalee Chanbunna and Kaylanie Martinez did some serious damage despite the final result: Chanbunna got on base in two of her five plate appearances with six stolen bases and one run, while Martinez went 1-for-3 with three stolen bases, two RBI, and one run. Chanbunna has been hot recently, having posted at least one stolen base the last three times she's played. Eimy Rodriguez was another key player, getting on base in three of her four plate appearances with one stolen base and one run.

Hartford Magnet Trinity College Academy's loss ended a three-game streak of away wins and brought them to 6-2. As for Academy of Science and Innovation, the victory made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 2-1.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Hartford Magnet Trinity College Academy will welcome Hartford Public at 3:45 p.m. on Monday. As for Academy of Science and Innovation, they will square off against Cheney Tech at 3:45 p.m. on Thursday.
