Basketball Recap: St. Helena College and Career Academy Takes a Loss

St. Helena College and Career Academy was not able to break out of their rough patch on Friday as the team picked up their third straight loss. They lost 39-19 to the Pope John Paul II Jaguars. The result was an unpleasant reminder to the Hawks of the 45-38 defeat they experienced in the pair's previous head-to-head fixture back in January of 2024.

Leading Pope John Paul II to victory were Ella Babin and Iris Lin. Babin posted 12 points and seven boards, while Lin dropped a double-double with ten points and ten rebounds. The dominant performance also gave Lin a new career-high in assists (three). Avery Shifflett also deserves some recognition as she pulled down her first board of the season.

St. Helena College and Career Academy's loss dropped their record down to 4-12. As for Pope John Paul II, they have been performing well recently as they've won three of their last four contests, which provided a massive bump to their 6-12 record this season.

Coming up, St. Helena College and Career Academy will face off against Baker at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Pope John Paul II, a feisty cat fight will be fought when the Jaguars challenge the Tigers at 6:00 p.m. on February 14th.
