Softball Recap: Southwestern Comes Up Short

Southwestern had lost five straight on the road, but on Monday they dropped down to 6-18 to make it six. They lost 11-0 to the Providence Pioneers. If the Rebels were looking for revenge after losing 18-0 to the Pioneers when the teams met back in May of 2025, then they'll just have to keep looking.

As for Providence, their victory bumped their record up to 13-4-1. The result was nothing new for the Pioneers, who have now won eight matchups by six runs or more so far this season.

For Providence's part, Livy Theobald (2026) was a standout: she went a perfect 2-for-2 with two runs, one triple, and one double. That double marked the first that Theobald (2026) has hit this season. The team also got some help courtesy of Frankie Weber (2026), who went a perfect 2-for-2 with two runs, one stolen base, and one RBI.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming contests. Southwestern will challenge Switzerland County at 5:00 p.m. on Wednesday. As for Providence, they will face off against New Washington at 5:30 p.m. on Wednesday.
