Softball Game Preview: Latin Romans vs. Willows Academy Eagles

The Latin Romans will challenge the Willows Academy Eagles at 4:30 p.m. on Wednesday. Latin has given up an average of 9.8 runs per game this season, but Wednesday's game will give them a chance to turn things around.

Latin is headed into Wednesday's game looking for a big change in momentum after dropping their third straight games on Tuesday. They came up short against Regina Dominican, falling 16-1.

Meanwhile, there's no place like home for Willows Academy, who bounced back after a loss on the road last Tuesday. They walked away with a 14-9 victory over Lake Forest Academy on Tuesday. The win was some much needed relief for the Eagles as it spelled an end to their three-game losing streak.

Carolina Dwyer was a standout: she got on base in all three of her plate appearances with seven stolen bases and three runs. Those runs marked the first that she has scored this season. Another player making a difference was Dulce Vidales, who got on base in all three of her plate appearances with five stolen bases, three runs, and one RBI.

Willows Academy was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .375. That was just more of the same: they've now posted a batting average of .333 or higher in three consecutive contests.

Willows Academy's victory bumped their record up to 2-5. As for Latin, their loss dropped their record down to 4-6.

Latin got the 'W' when the teams last played two weeks ago against Willows Academy by a conclusive 17-9 score. Will the Romans repeat their success, or do the Eagles have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
