Soccer Recap: Wheeling Takes a Loss

Wheeling lost against Prospect back in April of 2024, and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Monday. The Wildcats lost 5-0 to the Knights. While losing is never fun, Wheeling can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Illinois soccer rankings (they are ranked 265th, while Prospect are ranked 68th).

Wheeling is on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 1-6. As for Prospect, their victory was their first in the conference, bumping their conference record up to 1-1-1 and their overall record up to 4-2-1.

Coming up, Wheeling is taking a road trip to face off against Conant at 6:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Conant's last six contests have been decided by no more than a goal, so don't be surprised if it's a close one. As for Prospect, they will welcome Barrington at 6:45 p.m. on Wednesday. Barrington's defense has only allowed 0.2 goals per game this season, so Prospect's offense will have their work cut out for them.
