Basketball Game Preview: Ansonia Chargers vs. Waterbury Career Academy Spartans

The Ansonia Chargers will challenge the Waterbury Career Academy Spartans at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday. Expect the scorekeeper to be kept busy: if their previous games are any indication, the two teams will really light up the scoreboard.

Ansonia is headed in fresh off scoring the most points they have all season. They strolled past Wilby with points to spare on Monday, taking the game 60-42. The win continues a trend for the Chargers in their matchups with the Wildcats: they've now won seven in a row.

Meanwhile, there's no place like home for Waterbury Career Academy, who bounced back after a loss on the road last Monday. They simply couldn't be stopped on Thursday as they easily beat Crosby 76-45. The game marked the Spartans' most dominant victory of the season.

Waterbury Career Academy had a senior duo take command as Sierra Brown posted 22 points along with five boards and three steals and Malinna Figueroa put up 20 points and three steals. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Brown has scored all season. Amiyah Hing was another key player, putting up eight points.

Waterbury Career Academy's win bumped their record up to 8-10. As for Ansonia, their victory bumped their record up to 7-5.

Ansonia was able to grind out a solid win over Waterbury Career Academy in their previous meeting last Monday, winning 50-40. Does Ansonia have another victory up their sleeve, or will Waterbury Career Academy turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
