Riverside was handed a nine-run loss in their previous outing, but that didn't affect their clutch gene on Monday. They sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 5-3 victory over Mayfield. The win continues a trend for the Beavers in their matchups with the Wildcats: they've now won three in a row.

For Mayfield's part, Ethan Claflin made the most of his time in the batter's box despite the final result and went 2-for-3 with one home run. That home run marked the first that Claflin has launched this season.

Mayfield's defeat was their fourth straight on the road, which dropped their record down to 6-7. As for Riverside, their victory bumped their record up to 10-3.
