Basketball Recap: Belleville East Comes Up Short

Belleville East has been a dominant force so far, but they're in the middle of a mini-slump at the moment. They took a hard 61-47 fall against the Alton Redbirds on Tuesday. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Redbirds this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 55-42 back in December of 2024.

Belleville East's loss dropped their record down to 18-9. As for Alton, they are on a roll lately: they've won six of their last seven contests, which provided a nice bump to their 21-6 record this season.

Belleville East and Alton should be looking forward to their upcoming games as both have a sizable advantage in the MaxPreps Illinois Rankings. Belleville East (ranked 56th) will meet O'Fallon (ranked 212th) at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Meanwhile, Alton will face off against Belleville West at 7:30 p.m. on Friday up 132 places (29 vs. 161).
