Baseball Recap: Hueneme Snags Eighth Win in Last Ten Games

Hueneme got themselves on the board against Thacher on Saturday, but Thacher never followed suit. They didn't even let the Toads on the board, marking their second-straight 8-0 shutout. The result was nothing new for the Vikings, who have now won six contests by six runs or more so far this season.

George Rodriguez made a splash while hitting and pitching. He looked comfortable on the mound, not allowing a single earned run and allowing only one hit over seven innings pitched. He also tossed a walk, which is notable because Hueneme is undefeated when he allows at most one walk, but 4-7 otherwise. Rodriguez was also big at the plate, scoring two runs while going 1-for-2.

In other batting news, Joseph Pena was excellent, scoring a run and stealing a base while getting on base in four of his five plate appearances. Aureliano Perez was another key player, scoring a run while going 2-for-3.

Hueneme is on a roll lately: they've won eight of their last ten games. That's provided a massive bump to their 8-7 record this season. Those victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 3.1 runs on average over those games. As for Thacher, they now have a losing record of 3-4.

Coming up, Hueneme will take on Channel Islands at 3:30 p.m. on Wednesday. The Raiders will roll in looking for their sixth straight win, something the Vikings surely won't give up without a fight. As for Thacher, they will challenge Foothill Tech at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
