Basketball Game Preview: Luray Bulldogs vs. Greensville County Eagles

The Luray Bulldogs will face off against the Greensville County Eagles on Tuesday. Luray knows how to get points on the board -- the team has finished with 55 points or more in their past five matchups -- so hopefully Greensville County likes a good challenge.

Luray is returning to their home court after beating Central Woodstock on theirs, despite the fact Central Woodstock has dominated at home this season. Luray strolled past Central Woodstock with points to spare on Saturday, taking the game 71-55.

Luray's win was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Matthew Owens, who went 9-for-16 en route to 22 points and four steals. Owens is on a roll when it comes to steals, as he's now grabbed two or more in each of the last four games he's played. Connor Hilliard was another key player, shooting 55% from the field on his way to 18 points in addition to seven rebounds and three steals.

Meanwhile, it's hard to turn regular season success into postseason wins, a fact Greensville County can now relate to. They were outmatched by the Justices and fell 118-59. The Eagles' defeat signaled the end of their five-game winning streak.

Luray has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won six of their last seven contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 20-7 record this season. Those victories came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 69.6 points over those games. Greensville County's loss dropped their record down to 20-6.
