Soccer Game Preview: Newton South vs. Boston Latin

The Newton South Lions will challenge the Boston Latin Wolfpack at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Neither squad made it on the board the last time they hit the pitch, so they've probably got a bit of extra motivation.

Newton South is coming in fresh off a high-stakes matchup with another one of Massachusetts' top teams: Needham, who was ranked 16th at the time (Newton South was ranked 14th). The Lions fell just short of the Rockets by a score of 1-0 on Saturday. Newton South's defeat signaled the end of their six-game winning streak.

Meanwhile, Boston Latin fell victim to Concord-Carlisle and their airtight defense on Tuesday. They took a 2-0 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Patriots. Boston Latin have struggled against Concord-Carlisle recently, as the game was their sixth consecutive lost matchup.

Newton South's loss dropped their record down to 7-2-1. As for Boston Latin, their defeat was their first in the league, dropping their league record down to 1-1-5 and their overall record down to 1-3-7.

Everything went Newton South's way against Boston Latin in their previous meeting back in September of 2024, as Newton South made off with a 5-0 victory. Will the Lions repeat their success, or do the Wolfpack have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
